about

‘Concrete’ comes from the Latin word ‘con-crescere,’ meaning ‘’to grow together.’ At CONCRETE we want to enable Christians who work with young people, both in and outside of the church building, to thrive. We want to ensure that they are able to live fully into their calling and vocation.

Working with young people, introducing them to the ongoing work of Christ in their lives, is both a privilege and one of the most exciting jobs in the world. We believe that life changing youth ministry brings lifelong faith to young people’s lives and brings renewal to the Church, regardless of age.

For the last 10 years, and with over 100 years of experience in the team, working with both young people and the Christians who work with them, both in the UK and overseas. Through many hundreds of formal and informal interactions we have helped and facilitated the development of practice and vocational calling.

James Fawcett - Director

I have a desire to understand my own values and theology, seeing these not only informing my practice working with the Church and specifically young people - for the last 20+ years, but enriching my whole life and those around me. I am passionate about enabling the local church to positively impact their communities in meaningful, inclusive, creative, and safe ways. I am inspired by organisations that genuinely offer a holistic response to people’s needs meeting where they are at and walking with them, together toward life in all its fullness.

Joy Faulkner-Mpeho - Director

Joy Faulkner-Mpeho is currently children’s and youth minster at St Martin-in-the-fields. She has been working with young people in one form or another for her whole career, in a number of settings including schools, churches and community projects. Joy believes that the for the church to have a future we need to get inclusivity and youth participation right, so those are the things she likes to talk about the most. She also cares deeply about the wellbeing of Christians who work with young people and the quality of the work those people are able to deliver. When Joy's not working she's hanging out with her toddler, trying to make the people she loves laugh or baking.
